Haunted Morristown

Hamblen County Courthouse

511 W. 2nd North St. Morristown 37813, Built in 1874 with a pricetag of $21,750 (approximately $5,000,000), the Hamblen County Courthouse is generally known as the most recognizable structure in Hamblen County. This impressive structure with Italian architecture has served many purposes since 1874. Still serving as the government building for Hamblen County, people often tell of their independent, unexplainable phenomena. Most stories are from overnight cleaning crews who often report loud footsteps in the stairwells and doors mysteriously closing, sometimes slamming, without explanation. Although many people have reported seeing ghostly images, no particular stories ever seem to match. Paranormal Investigators believe that many different spirits associate themselves with this structure because of the many years and tens of thousands of people who worked or served their entire life inside this building. The property is publicly owned.
